Description:
Make sand creations with this Play Dough Sand recipe. Only has 3 ingredients and their is no cooking required. It’s a great replacement for the beach because you can play with sand and avoid sunburns and getting sand in your bathing suit (never fun).
Skills: Sensory Play
Ingredients:
1/2 C. Sand
1 C. Corn starch
1/2 C. Cheap hair conditioner
The super cheap hair conditioner we used could have been called “sea breeze” or “ocean side” which was a happy coincidence that I think added to the Ocean feeling of our activity 🙂
The sand I used was straight out of our sandbox outside. It had a few pieces of debris from nature, but Ms. Tiger did not care.
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together and play! I gave Ms. Tiger some small cups to mold sand castles with, along with some castle flags. Any play dough toys like scoops, cookie cutters, and utensils would totally be appropriate for this activity.
When done, store Play Dough Sand in an air tight container. We accidentally left ours out overnight and it dried a little bit, but crumbled under pressure. I broke up the pieces and added a bit of water to it and it was good as new.
