We had a ton of fun making these paper bag bug crafts that we are sharing today to complete our Bug Themed week. They are super easy to make and I think look pretty dang cute when they are finished. We stuffed ours with old bags which is always nice to be able to reuse things around the house.

Since the start of the Love to Learn Linky that I host I have had to adjust my posting schedule. We have recently had a bunch of new followers join us–Thank you and welcome to the fun! Just to share, I like to post new ideas 3 times a week. To keep the tradition going I will be posting Monday, Thursday, and Friday (instead of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). I opted not to spread the Thursday and Friday post apart to leave the weekends free for family time. No big deal right? 🙂 I just wanted to make sure you and I are on the same page so you know when to stop by for new ideas. Those who signed up for e-mail updates don’t have anything to worry about because they wont miss a post…just saying it’s a great idea-hint hint, wink wink 🙂 Next week we are sharing some magical paint, you wont want to miss it! 🙂

Pin me please! 🙂

Now onto our paper bag bug craft. Grab some supplies and your house will be buzzing in no time 🙂

Supplies:
Small paper bag
Large rubber band
Paint
Paint brushes
Stuff to fill the paper bag with (We used plastic bags, newspaper would work too)
Pipe Cleaners
Tape
Construction paper
Glue
Glitter

Directions:
1. Open the paper bag and stuff it full then tape it shut. We used old plastic bags, but newspaper or old magazines would work fine. .

2.  Take the rubber band and place it around the middle of the paper bag to form a head and body section.

3. Cut wings out of construction paper. I folded our paper in half and drew a wing shape on the paper, then cut it out.

4. Paint the paper bag and wings then set them out to dry.

My little artist really enjoyed painting her bug craft.

She panted one side of her wings and we folded the paper to transfer the paint to the other side, then opened it back up to dry. Ms. Tiger thought it was so cool!

5.  To complete your bug, assemble it by taping pipe cleaner antennas to the top, glue the wings to the back, and use glue and glitter to give your bug eyes

Taping antennas on.
Gluing wings on.

Dumping glitter on her bug.
We made two arches for the eyes with glue, then glittered them because we love glitter.

Here she is rubbing glitter in her hair…oh man, glitter everywhere for days…did I mention we love glitter, lol.

Ms. Tiger says this one is her grasshopper.
and this one is her ladybug.
