Letter of the Week A-Z Series: B is for Balloon & other Letter Activities (Love to Learn Linky #9)

Objectives: Directional words, Problem solving, Play and learn

Age Group: Preschool/Tot School

Supplies:
Helium Balloon
Latex balloon
String
Straw
Tape
Chip clip

How-To

Directions:
1.  Cut two pieces of straw and two pieces of string. Put a straw on each piece of string.

2.  Tape one string across the room and another string from the ceiling to the floor of the room.

3.  Tape the helium balloon to the straw on the vertical string.

4.  Tape the latex balloon to the straw on the horizontal string.

5.  Blow up the latex balloon and release the air to watch the balloon glide across the string.

6.  Put a chip clip on the helium balloon so it sinks to the floor. Release the clip and watch it rise to the ceiling.

7.  Let kiddo decide which way they want the balloon to go and let them figure out how to make it happen. Simple and fun because playing with balloons is always a good time!

To make it more of a game I cut out some arrows that said Up, Down, and Across and Ms. Tiger would pick one. She wasn’t able to blow up the latex balloon or reach the helium balloon to bring it down, but she was able to explain what we needed to do together. We had so much fun together and she smiled the whole time!
