I wasn’t sure if my barely 4 year old was going to enjoy tic tac toe, but apparently I should stop thinking she is too young for things. Part of being a mom must be hiding from myself that my kid’s are growing up. (I would dress them in their baby clothes if they would still fit :). Anyways, I grabbed some milk caps out of our supply closet, put some hearts on them, then Ms. Tiger and I played some rounds of our new heart tic tac toe game and she loved it!

It’s a great game to practice taking turns, learn how to strategize, and increase concentration and visual skills all while having fun spending time together and playing a game. Here are the directions so you can start playing in the next couple of minutes (it’s that easy to make!)

We used hearts to make a Valentine’s Day themed game, but you could use any type of sticker to personalize your game to any subject or holiday.

SUPPLIES:

  • 12 milk caps (I used 6 red, and 6 white)
  • Podge or Hot Glue
  • Foam Hearts or Heart Stickers or Hearts cut out from cardstock

DIRECTIONS:

To make the heart tic tac toe game: Glue the hearts to the milk caps to make game markers. I made sure to glue all my red hearts to the red caps, and all the pink hearts to the white caps

To play the game: Draw two horizontal lines and 2 parallel lines making one center box, with eight open boxes surrounding it. Take turns placing your markers on the board. The first one to place 3 markers in a row wins.
