To go along with our Bee Activities, we made a Beehive out of a recycled Egg Carton and I love how they turned out. Painting on egg cartons is a fun new experience and the bumps make an awesome looking honeycomb pattern.

1.  To make the beehive draw a large dome on the egg carton and cut it out. Draw a smaller dome at the bottom of the beehive and cut it out to make the entrance. Have child paint the beehive yellow and set it aside to dry.

2.  To make the bee trace out one large yellow circle and one large black circle (body of bee), a small yellow circle (head), a black heart (stinger), and 2 antennae. Have child cut them out. I traced a milk cap for the large circle and a soda bottle cap for the small circle.

Glue the heart to the back of the black circle so that the tip of it hangs out to make the stinger. Cut the large yellow circle into strips and glue some of them onto the large black circle to make the stripes. Draw a face on the small yellow circle, glue the antennae to the back of the head, and finally glue the head onto the bee body.

3.  To make the flowers draw 4 hearts per flower on the colored craft paper (we made 3 flowers, so we needed 12 hearts). Draw small circles on the yellow paper to make the center of the flowers (we used 3 circles). Have child cut them out.

Glue the base of two hearts together, then glue two more hearts on top and the yellow circle in the middle.

4.  Glue the bee and flowers to the beehive.
